MEP®. JOINT LARGE is cement base non-shrink tile grout designed to point large tile joints up to a width of 20mm on walls and floors for interior and exterior use

MEP®. JOINT LARGE can be used for grouting ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, natural stone…

  • Interior / External floor
  • Interior / External wall
  • Pool or pond (for private uses only)
  • Water-repellent surface to reduce water infiltration and improve resistance to staining
  • Contains anti-fungus additive for lasting protection from mould growth
  • Anti-crack technology for joint widths up to 20mm
  • Can be used on walls and floors
  • Scratch-resistant
  1. Surface preparation

    ▪ Tiles must be firmly in place
    ▪ The joints must be free of excess adhesive and loose material
    ▪ Joints should be moistened (not wet) prior to the application of the grout
    ▪ Quality of the grout will depend on the uniformity and the cleanness of the joint
Adhesive should normally be left for at least 24 hours before grouting, unless using a rapid set adhesive
For swimming pools leave for at least 3 days before grouting

  2. Mixing ratio: 4lts (+/- 0.5Lts) of water per 20 kg bag

    ▪ Gradually add the powder into the required water quantity while mixing to avoid lumps forming
    ▪ It is highly recommended to use a low speed mechanical mixer
    ▪ Mix thoroughly to a creamy consistency
    ▪ Allow mix to gel for 5 min and then remix before use

  3. Application

    ▪ Using a rubber float, apply the grout diagonally to the tile to a small area at a time
    ▪ Completely fill the joints leaving no voids
    ▪ Excess grout should be removed immediately using a rubber float held at 90° to the tiles
    ▪ When the grout has become firm in the joints (will depend on temperatures) the tiles should be cleaned with a clean damp sponge until all residues is removed
    ▪ When dry, polish the tiles with a clean, dry cloth

  4. Allowance for movement

Flexible joints should be incorporated to allow for slight movements due to changes in temperature, humidity etc. as indicated by DTU 52.2
    ▪ Where the tiling meets other materials (e.g. floor perimeters)
    ▪ Along all internal corners – vertically and horizontally
    ▪ Over existing movement joints or changes in background material
    ▪ Dividing large tiled areas into bays

    Do not use for:
    ▪ Deflection or limited shrinkage surface: use MEP®. JOINT FLEX
    ▪ Areas subject to chemical agents: use MEP®. JOINT EPOXY
    ▪ Areas subjected to high-pressure cleaning: use MEP®. JOINT EPOXY

Never add water if the mixture has started to set
Should the mortar stiffen up then discard the product and mix a fresh batch
An excess in mixing ratio and a poor preparation of the joints leads to a shading of the grout
