MEP®. JOINT RUSTIC is a water-repellent, cement and lime base rustic finish grout
MEP®. JOINT RUSTIC is formulated with hydrated lime to allow older buildings to regain their original charm
MEP®. JOINT RUSTIC is designed for grouting natural stone walls, stone paving, slates, terracotta tiles…
MEP®. JOINT RUSTIC is recommended for:
▪ Natural stone / slates / terracotta tiles must be firmly in place
▪ The joints must be free of dust, excess adhesive and loose material
▪ Joints should be moistened (not wet) prior to the application of the grout
▪ Quality of the grout will depend on the cleanness of the joint
Mixing ratio: 4 lts (+/- 0.5lts) water per 20 kg bag
▪ Gradually add the powder into the required water quantity while mixing to avoid lumps forming
▪ Mix thoroughly to a creamy consistency
▪ Allow mix to gel for 5 min and then remix before use
▪ Using an appropriate tool (trowel and/or rubber float), apply MEP®. JOINT RUSTIC
▪ Completely fill the joints leaving no voids
▪ Excess grout should be removed immediately using a damp sponge
▪ When the grout has become firm in the joints (will depend on temperatures) the tiles should be cleaned with a clean damp sponge until all residues is removed
Flexible joints should be incorporated to allow for slight movements due to changes in temperature, humidity etc. as indicated by DTU 52.2:
▪ Where the tiling meets other materials (e.g. floor perimeters)
▪ Along all internal corners – vertically and horizontally
▪ Over existing movement joints or changes in background material
▪ Dividing large tiled areas into bays
Do not use for:
▪ Areas subject to chemical agents: use MEP®. JOINT EPOXY
▪ Areas subjected to high-pressure cleaning: use MEP®. JOINT EPOXY
▪ Areas subjected to heavy duty traffic: use MEP®. JOINT EPOXY
▪ Do not add water to the mixture being set
▪ Do not apply in wet weather, or in temperatures below 5ºC or over 35ºC
▪ Should the mortar stiffen up then discard the product and mix a fresh batch
▪ An excess in mixing ratio and a poor preparation of the joints leads to a shading of the grout
▪ Packaging: 20kg triple-ply paper bags.
▪ Handling and storage: 6 months if kept in a dry cool place in the original packaging.
In more extreme conditions this period might be shortened
▪ Tools : Low speed mechanical mixer, trowel, rubber float, sponge
